The Process Control philosophy is a description of the process control with an emphasis on how it should be operated and controlled. This document is usually prepared by the process engineer to assist the control systems engineers to design their program logic and coding activities. It should be noted that each specific process can be unique in terms of its control philosophy with a focus on safety logic and interlocks.
This includes information on how the control system responds to failures and helps to maintain continuous and smooth operation of the processing unit, without affecting the involved processes. The system will be better if it responds to failures in a controlled manner and not get into a situation where the units are process units are failed and ESD is operated.
