What does mean by the term “Blowout” in the Process heaters or furnace?
Blowout is the condition where the firebox of a furnace is positive in pressure to the point that if a observation port is opened fire will blow out the port instead of air being drawn inside. This condition can result in the injury of personnel and damage to operating equipment.
The blowout condition of a heater is generally controlled by further opening of the damper so that vacuum can be created in the firebox and condition of positive pressure can be avoided.
